In response to the rapidly changing  online learning context, we are offering a one-week workshop that focuses on blending synchronous and asynchronous learning in an online format. In this workshop you will learn about and consider the relative strengths of each, as well as linkages across these two approaches. For example: Which learning activities are most suited to using web-conferencing tools? Which activities might be effective using learning activities like discussion boards? In this workshop, you will also explore effective approaches to teaching in asynchronous and synchronous online classes.

Who is this for?

This session is intended for UBC Educators who are currently teaching or will be doing so in the near future. This program is not for non-teaching staff or students. Please note, if you do not meet this criteria, your application to the program will not be approved.

What’s in it for me?

Time Commitment and Dates:

  • 6 hours total time commitment
  • 2  1.5 hour virtual meetings
  • 3 hours of online activities

  • Friday, May 15th, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm, Virtual Workshop

For the virtual workshops, please ensure you have your own quiet space, a computer with a webcam and headphones or earbuds.
