Event Description
Please click “Register Now” to complete the first half of the registration process.
Great teaching can happen anywhere, but teaching online requires different skills, strategies and tools than in a traditional face-to-face classroom. To help you succeed in teaching your course online, here is an opportunity to rehearse or practice teaching in the online classroom and receive feedback from your peers – a.k.a. Mini-Lessons.
We propose two roles for participants in these sessions: The Instructor, who will present the 10 minute Mini-Lesson and the Observers, who attend the session and provide feedback.
A 60 minute Mini-Lesson session will look like this:
Set-up (moderator/Instructor)
(15-20) minutes |
Overview of the Mini-Lesson process
Session set-up chat, goals for the session |
Set-Up (moderator/All participants)
(10 minutes) |
Guidelines for giving/receiving feedback |
Delivery (10-15 minutes) |
Presentation of Mini-Lesson |
Feedback (15 minutes) |
Feedback and reflection |
If you are interested in participating, we ask that Instructors sign up teach/rehearse one 10 minute online Mini-Lesson and observe one online Mini-Lesson. (time commitment: 60 minutes as instructor, 60 minutes as observer), and Observers sign up to observe two online Mini-Lessons. (time commitment: 2 hours of observation).
Upon registration, you will receive a link to select your specific date and time slot(s) via the event confirmation email. Next, you will receive a follow-up email and an online link from the facilitator two days prior to your session.
