Contract Faculty CoP: Two-way Interaction: A Major Challenge for Hybrid Courses – February 9, 2022

Event Date & Time

  • February 9, 2022
    1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

Event Description

Last term, a number of courses had to be offered in a blended mode because of the pandemic. This delivery mode enables students to attend these courses either in-person or online, synchronously. It is true that on UBC campus 70% of GTS classrooms of 30 seats and above have the ability to offer courses in a blended mode. However, equipment installed in classrooms do not provide two-way interaction for online students. These students can watch and hear the lecture, but cannot communicate with the instructor or interact with classmates. Working with ArtsISIT, one blended mode was tested and worked well last term. This could be a practical solution for some blended courses.
