Event Description

Please click “Register Now” to register for this event. This event will be hosted online on Zoom.

This session was created specifically for contract faculty (sessionals and Lecturers). Please only register for this session if that description fits you.

In this session, we will go through various techniques that have been used effectively in online, asynchronous courses before the COVID crisis forced adaptations of classroom classes into online classes. A course delivered online and a carefully-constructed online course that has several months or years + the aid of an instructional designer for development are very different. We hope the experience of instructors who have designed online courses in the past will provide some helpful support to instructors writing courses for the current unique situation. We will discuss challenges and share resources with each other.

Sarika Bose (English) and Judy Chan (Land and Food Sciences) are the co-facilitators of this community of practice. As a result of the COVID crisis, we find ourselves adapting to new circumstances in our teaching lives. We hope that the offerings we have listed below will allow us, the Contract Faculty community, to work towards practical teaching solutions and best practices. Please note that some of the sessions might be adapted as the academic year progresses.

Facilitators:

  • Judy Chan, Faculty Associate/ Faculty Liaison, Land and Food Systems, CTLT
  • Sarika Bose, Chair of Contract Faculty Committee of Faculty Association, Sessional Lecturer in Department of English

Please ensure you have your own quiet space, a computer with a webcam and headphones or earbuds.
