This event is part of the CTLT Summer Institute, taking place from August 21–25, 2023.

This session is designed to help educators start exploring anti-racism in teaching and learning by reflecting on key concepts such as power, privilege, and positionally, and understanding how these concepts manifest in various educational contexts. As participants engage in introspective reflection activities and small group discussions, they will learn about how their own identities impact their roles as educators and the learning environments to which they are connected. Participants can expect to explore and consider how their personal, place-based, and social identities influence their teaching pedagogy and their personal, professional and academic lives.

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

• a) Recognize how power, privilege, and positionality impact teaching and learning
• b) Gain a deeper understanding of their own personal, place-based and social identities
• c) Explore how the different layers of their identities are informed by their power, privilege and positionality (and vice versa).
