Series: Pro-D for Graduate Students
Event Date & Time
Event Description
In-person
This workshop is in-person. To attend the workshop online, register for online on February 16 from 12-2 pm.
A teaching philosophy statement is a self-reflective document that describes your beliefs, values, and assumptions about teaching. This statement is a living document that evolves and changes alongside your teaching practice. The experiences you choose to feature (and how you feature them) may also change depending on the audience who will be reading it.
Through self-reflection, group discussions and peer-to-peer feedback, this workshop will help you craft your teaching philosophy. All participants who are interested in writing a teaching philosophy are welcome. You may have just begun this process, or you may have an entire first draft. Ultimately, by the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Identify and describe your own values that inform your teaching practice
- Select appropriate evidence in support of your teaching values
- Highlight examples of your unique teaching experiences in a creative and concise manner.
