Have you tried a new teaching technique (or want to) but remain unsure of whether it was effective? Have you heard of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) but are unclear of what this is or what types of scholarship can be done in this area? Are you wanting to evaluate teaching and learning but are not sure of what methods can be used to approach questions of SoTL?

Come join the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (SoTL CoP) to explore these questions. We will talk about what SoTL is and some of the various ways to approach evaluating teaching and learning. Several UBC faculty who have received SoTL seed funding from the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) will discuss their projects to provide examples of the range of work in SoTL, and to share best practices.
