Event Description

In this session Morgan Guerin will discuss his experience as a Musqueam community member and artist who has contributed to the creation of materials used in the c̓əsnaʔəm: City Before the City exhibit located at the Musqueam Community and Cultural Centre. The creation of the sturgeon pole within this exhibit has been informed by oral history research he conducted at Musqueam. The lessons, messages and stories that come from this exhibit have been used to develop a series of teaching kits for use in other communities as a way to teach about coastal practices.

 

Facilitator Bio:

Morgan Guerin is in his second term as an elected Councilor for the Musqueam Indian Band. He is also a Musqueam Fisheries Officer and an artist who has developed materials for the c̓əsnaʔəm  exhibit at the Musqueam Community Cultural Centre. Morgan continues to share his knowledge, expertise and teachings through his participation in the development of a series of teaching tool-kits for use in schools and other communities.
