Pillar: Transformative Learning

Open education has become an important topic across higher education. This year at UBC, the Alma Mater Society led an updated #textbookbroke campaign advocating for: the use of open textbooks and open practices in the classroom to reduce costs for students, the continued adoption of open textbooks and resources in courses impacting thousands of students, and the continued development of open teaching practices with Wikipedia projects and student-produced, openly published content.

In this interactive, discussion-based session, we will explore the spectrum of open practices at UBC and the characteristics that are often associated with these practices. You will have a chance to engage with questions, insights, and complexities around open education.
