Event Date & Time

Event Description

Peer review has a growing and important role in higher education, as different platforms and tools can be leveraged to assign students reliable and beneficial peer review at scale. Join us at the LT Hub for a monthly hands-on drop-in studio to explore and get support using UBC-supported peer review tools. During the studio, we will provide descriptions, walk-throughs, and support for the following platforms and tools:

iPeer: A peer review application where members of student groups evaluate each other. Instructors can customize the evaluation prompts and include self evaluations.

ComPAIR:  A peer assessment and feedback application in which students first answer an assignment and then compare and respond to pairs of peer answers, leveraging their inherent ability to compare in assessing peer answers and writing peer feedback. Students read the feedback given on their work, and instructors can see how students responded and ranked their peers.

Canvas Peer Review Assignments: A peer review assignment enables students to provide feedback on another student’s assignment submission in Canvas.

edX Edge Open Response Assessment: In open response assessments (ORA), learners submit essay responses and then go through a series of assessment steps (such as peer assessment and self assessment) to complete the assignment.

edX Edge Peer Instruction: The Peer Instruction learning system provides students with online opportunities to reconsider course questions and arrive at a deeper understanding of concepts by reading how their peers responded.

peerScholar: peerScholar is a peer assessment application with three main phases: 1) Create (students submit work), 2) Assess (students evaluate peer work), and 3) Reflect (students read feedback, and optionally provide feedback on the feedback received and/or revise and resubmit the work).

Please bring your laptop.
