Inclusive Course Design

Series: CTLT Institute

Event Date & Time

  • August 21, 2018
    1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Event Description

Instructors often feel overwhelmed when asked to design their courses for a diverse student population. In this session we will discuss student diversity at UBC and within your own context. We’ll  introduce you to principles of inclusive course design which begin by examining who your students are and ways you can instill a sense of belonging and relevance for your learners. In small peer learning groups participants will spend time exploring four strategies that can make your courses more inclusive. We hope by the end of the session participants will be able to:

·         Appreciate the importance of inclusive teaching and inclusive course design

·         Consider that inclusive course design is good course design for all students

·         Be motivated to implement some of the course design strategies into your course(s).
