This hands-on workshop provides an introduction to Canvas Quiz Statistics, a learning analytics tool that provides instructors with useful data and visualizations, including an overview of students’ highest and lowest quiz scores, the average amount of time spent in a quiz, and the distribution of student responses. 

Quiz Statistics is available through Canvas to all UBC instructors, providing opportunities to reflect on and refine quizzes and quiz questions. For example, the Discrimination Index feature can help instructors identify potential issues with quiz questions by displaying the correlation between how well students scored on a particular quiz question and their total overall score on the quiz.

This workshop will also provide an overview of current learning analytics research and of UBC’s learning analytics pilot projects.
