For anyone interested in practicing and supporting inclusive teaching practices, listening to and incorporating student voices is a crucial step. In this session, UBC student panelists with different backgrounds will share their knowledge, experience, and insights around equity and inclusion in the classroom. Discussion topics will include: How are equity and inclusion in the classroom experienced on a personal level? Which teaching practices foster feelings of belonging and a sense that success is possible? Conversely, what classroom situations can make students feel isolated and unsupported? What does UBC need to change to improve the learning experiences of students, especially those who have been historically, persistently, and systemically marginalized, in and outside the classroom?
