Series: CTLT Institute

Event Date & Time

  • May 22, 2019
    11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Event Description

Pillar: Transformative Learning

Gamification has emerged as an attractive approach to enhancing students’ engagement with course content and facilitating learning in various disciplines.

In this interactive workshop, we will use a design-based approach to help you familiarize yourself with the concept of gamification, identify ways to integrate it in your courses, and outline a plan for recasting an existing learning module in your course through gamification. We will focus on articulating the aims and interests of instructors and learners by selecting key syllabus elements, including assessment, for re-articulation through gamification while addressing the following questions:

• What does gamification in your course look like?
• Is it primarily used to enhance student engagement with the course content?
• What does it allow you as the instructor to do?

Facilitators:

  • Will Engle, Strategist, Open Education Initiatives, CTLT
  • Brian Wilson, Curriculum Manager, Vantage College
  • Manuel Dias, Educational Consultant: Learning Technology & Faculty Liason, CTLT
