Course Design Studio: Assessment Strategies for Large Enrolment Classes

Session Format:
In-person

Designing assessments for large enrolment classes can be challenging. You are not alone if you are struggling with questions about workload, scalability, academic integrity, or student engagement. This hands-on Course Design Studio offers a supportive space to bring your questions, constraints, and course contexts to explore practical, evidence-informed assessment strategies that work at scale. Using handouts of high-impact assessment strategies (for in-class, formative, and summative assessments) as prompts, you will generate ideas, share workarounds, and identify at least one practical approach you can adapt for your own teaching context.

Course Design Studio sessions are designed to provide practical strategies for anyone involved in designing courses and learning experiences. They include a brief, high-level overview of the topic, hands-on activities, and dedicated time for both questions and personalized support.

Opportunities for one-on-one course design consultation are also available! To get the most out of this studio, please bring your syllabus and laptop for hands-on activities.
