Welcome to UBC, new contract faculty! Welcome back to campus, returning contract faculty! Teaching on a contract is a challenging task as changes in our contracts, courses, and department policies remain a constant. Over a light lunch, we will exchange common challenges we face and explore possible interventions. We will share resources available to you on campus. Together, we will come up with a collective list of tips and resources for us all to share.
Facilitators:
Sarika Bose teaches in the English Department and is the Chair of the UBCFA’s Contract Faculty Committee, which represents 8-month, 12- month and all other non- tenure track faculty at UBC.
Judy Chan is a sessional lecturer with the Faculty of Land and Food System since 2010 and an educational consultant with the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology. At the time of writing this brief bio, she was reviewing potential exam questions contributed by her students and preparing for the final exam she taught in the summer.
