Canvas course analytics and quiz statistics are potentially useful tools for understanding how students are engaging with course materials and designs. This workshop will introduce how to locate and use basic analytics such as activity, submissions, participation, and page views in Canvas and how to think about that information in terms of how student engagement and refining teaching practices. Participants will also learn how to interpret various activity graphs and evaluate quizzes and quiz questions for effectiveness and discuss best practices for evaluating student progress and helping struggling students. The workshop will also explore new and emerging analytics tools and engage in a discussion about what features and feedback could make such tools more useful for instructors and students. Please bring a laptop.
