Event Date & Time
Event Description
You are invited to help shape the new Inclusive Excellence Scholars program. The objective of the Inclusive Excellence Scholar Program is to engage outstanding UBC faculty members, working in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion, to participate in critical dialogue, and contribute to advancing Inclusive Excellence as a strategic priority at UBC. The Inclusive Excellence Scholar Program is funded and coordinated by the Student Diversity Initiative (SDI).
IE Scholars will have a strong interest in inclusive teaching and learning environments and innovative pedagogies, and may already be working in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion. All funded projects must be scalable to and/or shareable with other units and Faculties. Additionally, IE Scholars will meet monthly throughout the academic year for networking, discussion of progress on projects, and to explore opportunities for collaboration towards shared goals. Outputs from IE Scholars’ projects should work toward advancing institution-wide teaching and learning in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Deliverables and outcomes of this program may include, but are not limited to:
- Curriculum development;
- Inclusive teaching practices;
- Topic-specific research and interventions related to inclusion in the post-secondary environment and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning;
- Programming within a Faculty or School o e.g. Committee-based training programs to build diversity competencies.
This event will provide an overview of the program and invite conversation to both help shape the model and process moving forward.
The conversation will be facilitated by Maryam Nabavi and Hanae Tsukada, Student Diversity Initiative
Catered lunch and refreshments will be provided.
