Writing Assignment and Assessment Design

Event Description

This three-hour workshop introduces best practices for designing more effective science writing assignments, including the importance of context, active thinking and learning strategies, and assessment (e.g. rubrics). During the workshop, participants have the opportunity to assess the design of their own assignment and receive feedback from peers.

UBC is adding edX to the “evolving ecosystem of learning technology platforms, tools and applications on campus”. edX can be used to provide a blended learning experience for campus-based courses, as well as UBC online and distance courses. In each of these sessions we will be highlighting a tool or functionality of the edX Edge platform and then provide you with a space for hands-on work and guided support.

In this session, we will explore how to create a course using edX’s web-authoring tool Studio. We will explore such topics as structural hierarchy of an edX course, managing content publishing, and controlling content visibility.
