Welcome to Teaching at UBC

Series: CTLT Institute

Event Date & Time

  • August 24, 2015
    9:15 am - 11:45 pm

Event Description

At this welcome session you will be introduced to what you need to know to teach your first course at UBC, including: an overview of UBC students’ demographics; a discussion on UBC’s teaching and learning related strategic priorities and funding opportunities; what resources are available for you and how to access them; and, what your fellow faculty members consider to be the main challenges and enablers for their teaching at UBC.  You’ll also make some valuable connections with other new faculty across the university.  This session will be followed by a series of workshops and presentations relevant to those who are new to teaching at UBC — we welcome you to attend any that strikes your interest.

Facilitators: Judy Chan, Farnaz Badiee & Adriana Brizeno-Garzon

This function is part of the CTLT Summer Institute taking place from August 24-27, 2015.  This week long initiative will feature a series of workshops designed for new and developing faculty, staff, graduate students, teaching assistants, and anyone else in the UBC teaching community.  Explore and share fundamental teaching and learning practices that can be implemented into your instruction.  For a complete list of events, please click here
