Event Description

How often do you interact with Indigenous students? More than you think.

Faculty member’s ability to work with Indigenous students greatly influences student success.

Through a presentation of case studies participants will:

  • Discuss strategies, experiences, and best practices that can be incorporated into your classroom environment.
  • Identify on-campus supports and resources available for Indigenous students and how acute responses to student needs can increase successful outcomes.
  • Challenge our thinking and assumptions about decolonization.

Karlene Harvey, Academic Advisor Aboriginal Student Affairs Faculty of Arts
Karlene joined Aboriginal Student Affairs as an Academic Advisor in 2015. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. She offers both cultural and academic support to students. She is of First Nations descent from the Okanagan, Carrier, Kootenay and Tsilhqot’in nations.
