    10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Description

This two-hour workshop focuses on teaching and mentoring strategies for helping students develop a better writing process. Participants will consider how to structure writing assignments to help students better engage with scientific concepts, more thoughtfully plan their writing and arguments and take greater responsibility for the development of their writing skills.

These workshops are offered by the Writing Across the Curriculum Program (WAC). The WAC is a TLEF-funded collaboration between the Faculty of Science and the Writing Centre designed to support the teaching and learning of writing in the sciences (http://scwrl.ubc.ca/wac/). These workshops are designed for educators (faculty, TAs, course coordinators, etc.) that are teaching or mentoring science-specific writing or using writing to learn in the sciences.

Educators can register for any or all of the workshops in the summer series at: https://survey.ubc.ca/s/wacworkshops_summer2016/. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants per workshop.
