Exploring the SoTL Explorer Tool

Event Date & Time

  • October 3, 2016
    2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Event Description

Are you interested in developing a research project that would assess a component of your teaching or student learning (the Scholoarship of Teaching and Learning – SoTL) but don’t know how to get started?  Would you like to see examples of other SoTL projects at UBC to give you ideas on what you might study and how? Come join the SoTL Community of Practice to learn about the new SoTL Explorer Tool.  This tool was developed by the Center for Teaching Learning and Technology to capture 1) specific SoTL projects being conducted at UBC, 2) intended impacts of these projects, and 3) the context of these projects (e.g. class size, faculty etc.).  This tool can be used as a planning aid for your own projects and  can help you find people to connect with who are doing similar work in SoTL as you are.

In this session you will learn basic vocabulary used to describe SoTL projects in the Explorer tool, view a demo of the Explorer tool, conduct a guided brainstorm session for your own SoTL project, and use the Explorer tool to gather information relevant to your own projects.

Come join us to gather ideas and information to help you with your own SoTL work!
