Event Date & Time

  • May 4, 2017
    1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Description

As part of a collaborative initiative among Learning Technology Rovers across faculties, this open house session is intended to provide more information about the types of support that faculty and staff have access to, and also an open space to talk about the current tools and learning technologies.

Learning Technology Rovers (LTR’s) are co-op students who provide instructors with as-needed support for a broad range of learning technologies such as Connect, Camtasia, UBC Blogs, iClicker, iPeer, Turnitin, and more. The LTRs share a common goal: to help make the delivery of teaching more efficient and the process of learning more effective.

Join the LTRs in this open house to find out the support and resources that are available to you in your Faculty.
We will explore some tools you could integrate into your teaching practice to better help communicate with your students, provide assessment and feedback, and share content within your class.
We will showcase how new tools such as Mattermost (a platform that can facilitate real-time messaging as well as archive discussions) are being piloted in a course. Along with existing tools that you can integrate into your classroom such as iClickers (a classroom response system that lets you interact and assess students in real-time), and CaptureSpace (a platform for sharing and creating video content integrated within the LMS).
There will be some work stations provided for you to try out these tools.
While this session will feature the three tools, the LTRs can also talk about other learning technologies and potential tools of your interest.

This session is facilitated by LTRs from the Faculty of Arts, Science, Education, and Applied Science.
