Using the UBC Wiki to Enhance Student Learning Through Open Pedagogy

Session Format:
Online

Open pedagogy applies the principles of openness to teaching and learning, giving students greater control and agency in their own education as well as aligning their work with the academic mission of the University. It combines strategies and technologies that support collaboration, co-creation, and shared knowledge. The UBC Wiki is a powerful platform for enabling student scholarship and supporting open assignments where students contribute as creators of knowledge and learning resources.

In this session, we will explore practical ways to integrate the UBC Wiki into your courses, including:

  • Designing and supporting open assignments

  • Best practices for organizing courses and projects on the wiki

  • Facilitating student collaboration
