How accessible is your course for diverse students? Accessibility goes beyond providing individual accommodation. It means proactively removing barriers and offering flexible options so all students can thrive. In this 90-minute workshop, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your course and learn practical strategies, informed by both accessibility guidelines and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, to make your teaching more inclusive, accessible, and impactful.
The topics include:
- Making your course materials and content accessible
- Identifying essential syllabus components, plus optional items that improve inclusion
- Building flexibility into assessments to better accommodate a wider range of students
You are encouraged to bring your course syllabus, digital course materials and assignment instructions. Throughout the session, you will review concrete examples, exchange ideas with participants, and workshop your materials. You will leave with practical tools such as checklists, guides, templates, and resources you can use immediately.
Note: To get the most out of this workshop, please bring a laptop or mobile device for hands-on learning.
