This event is part of the 2026 Summer Institute taking place from August 17 – 20, 2026.
This in-person, 2-hour Make-a-thon offers faculty a hands-on opportunity to explore how generative AI can support the development of teaching materials. Participants will be introduced to a curated set of AI tools, including Copilot, Claude Skills, and Gemini, with a focus on practical applications for course design and instructional development.
The session begins with a brief orientation to these tools, highlighting how they can assist with tasks such as generating examples, designing learning activities, creating assessments, and refining instructional content. Participants will then engage with examples of AI-supported teaching materials from a range of disciplines to ground the possibilities in real classroom contexts.
The majority of the session is dedicated to supported creation. Faculty will work on developing their own teaching material using AI, with facilitators available for guidance, feedback, and troubleshooting. By the end of the session, participants will leave with a draft resource they can use or adapt in their teaching, along with practical strategies for integrating AI into their workflow.
