Event Description
Student engagement is a critical factor known to significantly enhance student learning outcomes. Learning technologies can play an important role in fostering this engagement. H5P, a free and open-source tool, empowers users to create a wide array of interactive elements designed to enrich student engagement within learning management systems like Canvas. Recently launched by UBC, the H5P Open Hub provides a dedicated platform for UBC Community members to generate, store, and share H5P interactive content. This platform seamlessly integrates interactive materials into various learning environments, including both online platforms and in-person settings, supporting flexible course design.
H5P contains dozens of interactive elements that can be used to design learning activities or student learning. It can be integrated into in-person, blended or online courses.
In this interactive session, we will preview commonly used content types such as multiple-choice questions, image hotspots, and interactive video, and guide participants through the process of developing a couple different ones. We will also discuss how these interactive elements can help implement formative assessment questions and provide timely feedback. Additionally, we will address several important considerations and share best practice for creating accessible H5P content.
This session is for beginner or intermediate users of H5P.
