CANCELLED: Technological Pedagogical Knowledge in Multi-Campus Courses

Event Date & Time

  • June 10, 2021
    1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Event Description

At the 2020 Winter Institute, we presented the challenges and benefits of multi-campus instruction, focusing on technological pedagogical knowledge in multi-campus course design, facilitation, and maintenance. Courses taught using information communication technologies (ICTs) that span campuses offer many benefits to students, instructors, and institutions, but broad questions remain on how technology and pedagogy may work together to maximize the student learning experience and promote equity and inclusion.

In this session we examine case studies from regions around the world, reflect on pedagogical effectiveness within the associated context, and collaboratively examine best practices appropriate to Canadian higher education institutes. As we seek continuous improvement beyond the classroom, we will share observation and evaluation methodologies for highlighting problem areas in course design and delivery of multi campus/ multi location courses, and share practical tools for encouraging student equity, engagement, and inclusion in this unique environment. This session will be helpful to anyone who is contemplating teaching in a multi campus/multi location environment.

Facilitators:

  • Dr. Christoph Sielmann, P.Eng. Assistant Professor of Teaching, Mechanical Engineering
  • Dr. Casey Keulen, P.Eng. Assistant Professor of Teaching Department of Materials Engineering

This event will be hosted on Zoom.
