Teaching and Learning with International Students

Event Date & Time

Event Description

In response to both the realities of the demographics of UBC and the goals of UBC’s International Strategic Plan (2011), the student body in our classrooms bring a variety of skills and perspectives to our teaching and learning spaces.

With a focus on strategies that support instructors’ existing disciplinary practices, this workshop will focus on internationalizing course learning outcomes and finding ways to support students’ navigation through course requirements.  Attendees will have the opportunity to share challenges they face, strategies they already use, and expand their toolkit of resources.  By the end of the workshop, participants should have more confidence in engaging with students from different educational backgrounds, communicating their course goals and assignment specifications, and benefitting from the diversity on and beyond our campus.
