Event Date & Time
Event Description
Supporting student learning can seem complex as there are many factors that impact learning (e.g. design of materials, access to materials, relevance of content). In addition to these factors, student wellbeing is closely connected to student learning and development (Eisenberg, Hunt, & Speer, 2013; Keyes et al., 2012; Martine, 2010). However, supporting student wellbeing is often not considered as part of teaching practice. In this session, we will refer to research about the importance of using teaching practices that support student wellbeing from the UBC Wellness Center and we will explore how to create and use online resources to support student wellbeing.
Through examples from UBC faculty, discussions, and hands-on activities you will be learn how to:
1. Identify and discuss strategies for supporting student wellbeing through teaching practices and classroom interventions
2. Identify technology that could be used to support specific areas of wellness
3. Create online resources and activities that incorporate wellness principles
