  • April 19, 2018
    1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Event Description

Student Peer Assessment (SPA) is the assessment of students’ work by other students of equal status. We invite you to this session for an introduction to a variety of approaches that instructors, at UBC, are using in their teaching. Each faculty member will briefly present on their approach, followed by a short question and answer period.

April 19th Presentations:

  1. Using Student Peer Assessment to Reinforce Community and the Role of Audience by Jennifer Walsh Marr (Vantage College)
  2. Peer Assessment in Online Discussion Groups by Niamh Kelly (Medicine)
  3. Using ComPAIR to Facilitate Learning through Peer Evaluation by James Charbonneau (Faculty of Science)
  4. Using Peer Assessment to Enhance Student Engagement and Learning in Group Projects by Silvia Bartolic (Faculty of Arts)

By the end of this session, you will have an increased awareness of the ways SPA can be implemented. The April 19th session will be followed up with individual workshops in which participants will be able to explore a particular approach in more depth.
