Designing Globally Relevant Courses: Exploring Rationales and Approaches for the Internationalization of Teaching and Learning

UBC’s International Office and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) are offering a half-day workshop on the internationalization of teaching and learning, live on both UBC campuses simultaneously. Faculty, instructors and staff who seek to develop curricula that support and integrate international perspectives and global case studies are invited to participate in this event.

A recent survey on internationalization at UBC revealed that the appetite for integrating globally relevant issues and themes into curricula is high among faculty, staff and students at UBC. It also showed that there is a desire, particularly among faculty and staff, for campus-wide learning and sharing of best practices of the internationalization of teaching and learning.

This event will feature:

1. Opening remarks by Dr. Anji Redish, Provost and Vice-President Academic pro tem

2. Keynote address by Dr. Vanessa Andreotti, Canada Research Chair in Race, Inequalities and Global Change, Department of Educational Studies: “Mapping Different Rationales and Approaches for the Internationalization of Teaching and Learning”

3. A moderated panel discussion featuring examples of internationalized curricula at UBC, with participation from 2 UBCV faculty members and 2 UBCO faculty members

4. A “living lab” featuring resources, networks, and engaging discussions between panel members, students and participants
