Event Description

Please note this session is currently full. Please click here to be added to the waitlist. We appreciate your patience. We plan to host additional sessions over the next three weeks and will notify those on the waitlist soon.

For those of us who facilitate group work and student discussions during our face-to-face classes/sessions, the idea of moving to an online environment can seem daunting. In this session we will explore how to adapt to the online space and continue with peer-to-peer engagement. We will use Collaborate’s breakout rooms to model some common active learning techniques while teaching synchronously.

Facilitators:

  • Susan Hampton, Educational Consultant: Facilitation and Process Design, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT)
  • Kari Grain, Analyst, Experiential and Integrated Learning, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT)

Please note, this session is part of the CTLT Remote Teaching Institute taking place April 20 – 22, 2020. These sessions are not designed to be completed in a particular sequence or as a whole cohort. Please sign-up for sessions individually as desired. We are also working on offering additional sessions over the next three weeks. The CTLT Remote Teaching Institute supports UBC educators with an opportunity to explore teaching in remote learning spaces. Click here for a full listing of events.

The Blackboard Collaborate video conferencing link will be provided prior to the event to all who are confirmed to participate. Please make sure you have your own quiet space and a computer with a webcam and earphones/buds.
