Assessment is more than grading. It’s about fostering learning through intentional design for students to have opportunities to receive feedback and improve learning throughout a course. This interactive workshop is to support both new and current instructors with practical strategies for planning and implementing assessments in their courses.
The session encourages participants to reflect on their concerns and issues with assessments in their Canvas courses. Grounded in backward design principles, the session will explore core principles of assessments aligned to learning outcomes. Some applicable examples of effective assessments will be presented. Participants will discuss and share their strategies from their context. You will leave with practical tools such as hands-on guides, templates, and planning checklists that will help you confidently design assessments in your context.
