Developing Your Teaching Philosophy Statement: Drafting and Feedback

Session Format:
Online

Ready to make progress on your teaching philosophy statement (TPS)? This is the session to get words on the page and receive feedback on your TPS. All are welcome to attend this working session, which will include a very brief recap of the Introduction to Teaching Philosophy Statements session before offering you guided activities to create, revise, and add to you TPS at whatever stage you are in the process.

Participants in this session are highly encouraged, but not required to attend Introduction to Teaching Philosophy Statements.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Review core components of a teaching philosophy statement.
  • Identify existing material that you want to include in your TPS.
  • Draft and/or revise narrative elements of your TPS.
  • Give and receive feedback on your TPS based on existing and emerging conventions
  • Plan for next steps with your TPS

If you’re unable to make it to this session and are looking for support with your teaching dossier, see the Teaching Portfolio section of our website (https://ctlt.ubc.ca/resources/teaching/portfolios/) or contact Megan Robertson for a consultation (megan.robertson@ubc.ca)
