Graduate Student Presentation Skills Workshop

This two-day interactive workshop enables you to increase your confidence and try new approaches in any presentation setting. The Presentation Skills Workshop (PSW) is definitely for you if you know you will have to present your research at a conference, or within your department; you might also consider taking the PSW if you are preparing to defend your thesis, or if you are taking part in a job interview. During the workshop you will deliver 2 short presentations and receive constructive feedback from your peers and the facilitator (who is a trained UBC graduate student). You will also give one or more impromptu presentations following instruction on structuring and preparing for extemporaneous speaking.

Following completion of this workshop you will be able to: Plan and organize an effective presentation
Become aware of elements that contribute to effective presentation delivery
Efficiently structure a short presentation with a limited amount of time.

All PSWs run for two days, from 8:15am - 5:00pm each day. PSWs require a $60 deposit to confirm your registration. This deposit is refundable upon completion of the workshop. If you have to cancel before the workshop starts or if you are otherwise unable to complete the workshop once it has started, the deposit cannot be refunded. The deposit cannot be transferred to other dates.

We offered 10 PSWs during the 2012-2013 academic year. Registration for each workshop opens 4-6 weeks prior to the workshop date.  No PSWs are scheduled during the summer from April - August, 2013.

Please check back during the summer for the dates of PSWs during the 2013-2014 academic year.
