These workshops are designed for those who are teaching credit courses at UBC (whether you are a new instructor, or have been teaching for many years.) In a supportive atmosphere you'll have a chance to try new approaches and to sharpen existing skills. The workshop, which focuses on teaching groups of students, consists of teaching practice, theory application and active discussion. By the end of the workshop, you should be able to: write a useful, practical lesson plan, conduct an interactive classroom session, consider differing learning needs of students, use learning objectives to organize teaching, to help students consider what they are expected to learn, use simple techniques during lessons to test learning, use common instructional aids effectively, use good questioning techniques during a classroom session, give constructive feedback and increase classroom confidence and competence. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to each participant.
