Through a series of 7 monthly workshops participants had an opportunity to learn different skills from faculty, TA’s and staff who are working in areas that focus on Indigenous cultures, histories, literature and community based research all of whom are particularly knowledgeable of the issues coming out of conversations around these topics. Through a variety of lectures, discussions and hands on activities participants learned how to facilitate discussions that are more functional and supportive in order to increase the level of understanding around Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal histories and relationships and how these conversations play out in the classroom.
Over the past 7 months participants have had an opportunity to learn from the series presenters and also develop a network of contacts and colleagues doing similar work.
Please join us for the Aboriginal Initiatives: Classroom Climate wrap up session. Your thoughts and feedback are valuable and will be used to develop this series further for the upcoming year.
