Facilitators:
Afsaneh Sharif is an Instructional Designer and Project Manager for the CTLT Distance and Blended Learning Team. Afsaneh is interested in the application and integration of technology into the learning environment in a way that both enhances learning and makes it easy for instructors and students to use. She likes to explore diversity and cultural challenges in an online environment, and how the visual representation of information aids learning. Particular interests for her include accessibility, community of learning, open education, and instructional/learning design.
Justin Student joined the Faculty of Medicine in 2010 as an instructional designer for MedIT. He currently works close to faculty supporting and developing virtual patients and other online learning resources for the multi-site blended curriculum. Justin moved into higher education from a background in developing custom eLearning for corporate education programs. He has an MA in Learning and Technology and research interests in the pedagogical integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs); with a particular interest in development contexts (ICT4D).
Mali Bain is the Community of Practice Developer at the UBC Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology. She is a student of Adult Learning and Education and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for learning through and with community.
