CTLT Input for Learning Space Design Guideline Update

Event Date & Time

  • April 19, 2017
    9:30 am - 11:30 am

Event Description

The Learning Space team at Facilities Planning are working on an update of the UBC Learning Space Design Guidelines to reduce and restructure the document to reflect current operational needs and experience.  http://www.infrastructuredevelopment.ubc.ca/facilities/learningspaces/learningspace.htm

These guidelines were created in 2011 and inform the project teams for all new construction or renovations of learning spaces.  As noted in the website link above (Appendix C: Methodology and stakeholders), CTLT was actively involved in helping define the principles and identify pedagogy definitions during the second step of the original project.

For this update, we invite your participation at a workshop to include the following:

Brief overview of original LSDG structure/purpose and the goal/purpose of the update (reduce duplications, add graphics, etc.)
Review of Learning Space Design principles
Review of names/designations of classroom types and examples of each
Discuss any new/emerging space types or categories that should be considered (e.g. virtual learning spaces)

Note: registration in this session is restricted to CTLT staff.
